Working Principle
The MDT 400-34 Thruster Brake functions as a fail-safe system, crucial for ensuring safety in heavy lifting operations. The braking force is constantly applied to the brake shoes by a pre-stressed compression spring. When power is sent to the integrated electro-hydraulic thruster, it generates hydraulic pressure that counteracts the spring force, lifting the brake shoes clear of the 400mm drum and allowing the machinery to move. If power is cut, either intentionally or due to a power failure, the thruster de-energizes, and the spring's force instantly applies the brake shoes to the drum, safely retarding speed and holding the load securely.
