Working Principle
The MDT 400-18 Thruster Brake is a fail-safe device. Its braking force is applied to the brake shoes by a pre-stressed compression spring. When power is supplied to the integrated electro-hydraulic thruster, it overcomes the spring force, moving the brake shoes clear of the 400mm drum and allowing machinery to operate. In the event of a power cut, the spring instantly applies the brake shoes to the drum, retarding speed and securely holding the load.
