Working Principle
The MDT 400-46 Thruster Brake operates as an essential fail-safe system. A pre-stressed compression spring continuously applies braking force to the brake shoes. When electrical power is directed to the integrated electro-hydraulic thruster, it generates hydraulic pressure that counteracts the spring force, lifting the shoes from the 400mm drum and allowing machinery to run. Should power be cut, the thruster de-energizes, and the spring's force instantly applies the brake shoes, ensuring that the load is retarded and held securely and safely.
