Rotary Geared Limit Switch GRLS is used to trip motor supply when the moving loads reach the extreme end positions of working zone. The driving motion is transmitted by worm gear through worm shaft. The rotations and movements are transmitted to switches by adjustable cams.

Gear Ratio Sizing & Cam Setting Guidelines

The Rotary Geared Limit Switch (GRLS) connects directly to the crane hoist drum shaft or pinion drive. As the rope drum rotates, internal reduction gearing turns adjustable multi-lobed cams which trip individual snap-action contactors at preset top and bottom travel limits. This model is the 1:60 ratio variant with 2 contacts in an IP41 enclosure, suited to indoor fabrication bays.

Gear Ratio Calculation

To calculate the required gear ratio for your crane hoist:

Ratio (i) = (Total hoist lift height in metres) / (π × drum pitch diameter in metres × useful cam rotation)
